• 1 slice Sunbake white
    or brown bread
  • 3 – 5ml mayonnaise
  • 1 slice ham and/or
    1 slice cheese,
    ready sliced
  • Carrot, cucumber,
    avocado etc in
    thin strips


Working on a board, remove all crusts. Spread 1 side of bread with mayonnaise and season lightly, then use either a slice of ham or a cheese slice next. This will contain the filling better. From here, place a small amount of other fillings along the bottom line of the bread. Start rolling from this side so as to create a Swiss Roll type log. Roll as tightly as possible without squashing the bread. This can be done in advance, covered and refrigerated until required. Slice each roll into 3 or 4 pieces and arrange on a platter.

Optional extras: Try using grated cheese, tuna mayonnaise and some butter lettuce leaves as part of the filling.
